The History of Jaguar – A C&H Foreign Auto Specialty

The Jaguar is a very famous car brand, and the technicians at C&H Foreign Auto love to work on these beautiful cars. Jaguars have been manufactured since the early 1800’s and have had a wide variety of models and designs over the years. These include the XJ6, XJ-S, XK8 and F-Pace. C&H Foreign Auto would love to take you on a journey through history with Jaguar and this blog.

Jaguar XJ6

The XJ6 is one of the most important Jaguar models in history. This slick and elegant vehicle combines a sleeker shape with a more modern interior. It was the first all-new Jaguar model since 1961. It was also the last car styled by Sir William Lyons.

The XJ6 replaced the S-type. This two-door coupe retained the shorter standard-wheelbase. It was available in both a sedan and a full convertible. Its style continued to evolve in the successor models. The XJ6 was the first British car to feature all-LCD dashboard displays.

It was also the first British car to be powered by a turbocharged engine. The 3.2-litre and 4.0-litre engines were the same as those in the XJ40.

Jaguar XK8

XK is a car that is available as a coupe or convertible, and it’s the replacement for the XJS. It was introduced in March 1996 and produced by Jaguar from 1997 to 2014. The XK8 was the first Jaguar sports car in over twenty years. It also was the first eight cylinder motor manufactured by Jaguar.

The XK8 was designed by Ian Callum and Fergus Pollock, who had worked on the E Type. Its design is reminiscent of the classic Jaguar sports cars of the past.

The XK is available in a range of body styles, including a two-door coupe, a three-door hatchback coupe, and a convertible. The XK8 was also available in a supercharged version. The supercharged variant had a maximum power of 400 bhp and a 0-60mph time of just 5 seconds.

Jaguar XK120

The XK120 was one of the world’s fastest production cars in the late 1940s. At that time, only a handful of cars could attain 120+ miles per hour. It was also a fast two seater.

The XK120 was first shown at the 1948 London Motor Show. It was originally intended as a limited production model. It was designed to showcase the new XK engine. The 3.4 litre straight six had 180 horsepower. It had a hemispherical combustion chamber and enamelled manifolds.

The chassis was a shortened version of the Mark V saloon. It had independent front suspension by torsion bars. The rear was redesigned with extra positioning links. The XK120 also featured an un-muffled dual exhaust system. It was also fitted with a non-standard aluminum belly pan to reduce drag.

Swallow Sidecar Company

The Swallow Sidecar Company was founded in 1922 by William Walmsley and William Lyons. Its early production was based in Blackpool. The business later moved to Coventry.

The Swallow Sidecar Company first displayed its sidecar at the 1923 Motor Cycle Show. The sidecar had an octagonal shape and was covered in polished sheet aluminum. The sidecar was built by Walmsley in his parents’ garage in Blackpool.

In 1928, the Swallow Sidecar and Coachbuilding Company moved to Coventry. The Austin Seven Swallow was produced there. It was a popular and inexpensive vehicle. The Swallow sidecar resembled more expensive cars of the time.

In January 1935, the company issued shares to the public. After the war, Swallow “Doretti” sports cars were made at Walsall Airport.

Jaguar XJ-S

XJS is a grand tourer that embodies a classic design. It is a vehicle that has seen significant upgrades over the years, making it more dependable and reliable. In fact, Jaguar XJS has remained in production for over twenty years, making it one of the longest-lasting cars in its class.

The XJ-S’s design was inspired by the XJ6 Series 1 from the late 1960s. It was also designed with the input of Sir William Lyons, the Jaguar founder. In fact, the XJ-S’s design is considered the last truly forward-looking design that Jaguar produced.

The XJ-S was launched in 1975. It was initially available only in coupe form. However, it was also offered as a convertible. This version became popular as a sporty grand tourer.

Jaguar F-Pace

The F-Pace has a lot to offer for the driver that wants a practical vehicle. It’s a sporty SUV that’s just as stylish as it is comfortable. There are also plenty of engine choices and trim levels to choose from. If you’re interested in driving a Jaguar, you can contact a Jaguar dealer near you to get a test drive.

The F-Pace comes standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The base model is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4. The R-Dynamic S adds a turbocharged 6-cylinder for amore powerful boost.
